Asthma is an increasingly common condition and is much more prevalent in industrialised countries. Wheezing, shortness of breath, a tight feeling in the chest and coughing are the symptoms caused by narrowing of the airways. Chinese medicine the underlying problem with asthma is a weakened Spleen and Kidney, resulting in excessive phlegm.
In Acupuncture, the focus is on clearing phlegm and strengthening the immune system. Life style and dietary advice may be part of the treatment.
