Acupuncture for common cold and chest infections

The common cold is a viral infection of the upper respiratory track. When it is in its early stages acupuncture may be able to prevent the virus from getting deeper into the body and prevent the symptoms from worsening. Once a cold has taken hold however, it just needs to run its course and acupuncture may help ease the symptoms like nasal congestion and sore throat.

Chest infections or bronchitis can sometimes begin as a common cold that gets worse when the virus goes deeper into the system. Tightness of the chest, difficulty breathing and fever may be some of the symptoms, along with a cough that is dry or produces plegm.

Acupuncture can reduce inflammation, clear phlegm and strengthen the lung function. It can help boost the immune system.
